My name is Laurie and I am mum to my beautiful little girl Mia, the inspiration and reason why I came to discover and experience the wonders of baby yoga for myself back in 2010.
I was inspired to train in baby yoga after attending Jenny Dearman’s wonderful classes at Flutterbye babies. The sessions were a revelation to me and I can’t express enough how much we both benefited from the experience. Mia would delight in the songs, moves and stretches and always fell asleep at the end of each class giving me a precious moment of peace to relax and enjoy a hot cup of tea and some adult conversation with other mums. To just ‘be’ with my baby in such a calming and supportive environment meant the world to me at the time and as a result I felt compelled to drop my career within the creative industry and retrain with Birthlight, completing part one of my Baby Yoga Diploma in May of 2012.
I have practiced different forms of yoga incuding hatha, yin, iyenga and ashtanga for the past 15 years. I have studied with The British Wheel of Yoga completing the Foundation Course and year one of the Teacher Training Diploma. I am also a qualified Holistic Massage therapist (ITEC).
Baby Yoga has made a real difference to me. It has helped with my posture, my ability to stay calm and my confidence with Mia and continues to be an integral part of our daily life.
